This program is built for the AI era, where data professionals must use artificial intelligence to understand information, identify patterns, predict trends, and support better decisions. As AI reshapes every industry, students who cannot work with data and AI risk being left behind. This program prepares students to use AI as a real competitive advantage in analytics, dashboards, business intelligence, machine learning, and decision support. From the first semester, students learn Applied AI and Prompt Engineering, Content Writing, Visual Content Creation, Digital Marketing, and No-Code Web and Mobile Application Development using GitHub Copilot. After completing the first semester, students can start earning by creating reports, dashboards, campaign summaries, market research content, and business presentations. This is not just a BSCS. It is a university-supported pathway to become a future-ready data professional who can analyze, explain, and use data for real business growth. Work-Based Scholarship (WBS): work 10 hours/week online for 40% off (payable Rs 120,000/sem) or 5 hours/week for 20% off. Earned by working — not by marks.

Study Loan: an additional 40% study loan brings the payable amount to ~Rs 72,000/semester. Repaid after the student starts earning, in 6 instalments under a signed undertaking.

The BSCS – Data Science program is a 4-year undergraduate degree spread over 8 regular semesters with 130 credit hours. Its structure includes 34 credit hours of General Education, 48 credit hours of mandatory Computer Science core courses, 24 credit hours of Data Science specialization electives, 3 credit hours of Professional Certification, 12 credit hours of Interdisciplinary/Allied courses, 3 credit hours of Field Experience/Internship, and 6 credit hours of Final Year Project.

What is BSCS - Data Science?

BSCS – Data Science is a four-year Computer Science degree with a Data Science specialization. It keeps the strong BSCS foundation and adds specialized learning in data science, data engineering, visualization, business intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, data mining, and data ethics and security.

Why should a student choose Data Science in the AI era?

Data Science is one of the most important fields in the AI era because almost every organization now needs people who can understand data, convert it into dashboards, discover patterns, support decisions, and use AI responsibly. Students learn both computing foundations and specialized analytical skills.

Can students start building useful skills before graduation?

Yes. From the early semesters, students can begin practicing programming, spreadsheet analysis, small dashboards, survey summaries, technical writing, digital presentations, and guided portfolio tasks. This helps students build confidence and visible work before the final year.

How is this different from a general BS Computer Science degree?

A general BSCS gives broad computing exposure, while BSCS – Data Science keeps the same computing foundation and focuses the elective pathway on analytics, BI dashboards, machine learning, big data, data engineering, and responsible data use. It is more focused for students who enjoy data, patterns, and decision support.

Applicants must have completed Higher Secondary School Certificate, A-Levels, or an IBCC-recognized equivalent qualification involving at least 12 years of schooling with at least 50% marks. Students should have studied Mathematics at Intermediate level. Students who have not studied Mathematics must complete 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses during the first year, including zero semester where applicable.

Who can apply for BSCS - Data Science?

Applicants with HSSC, A-Levels, or an IBCC-recognized equivalent qualification involving at least 12 years of schooling may apply if they meet the minimum marks requirement and University admission rules.

What is the minimum marks requirement?

The minimum requirement is at least 50% marks for admission to BS Computing programs, subject to document verification, seat availability, equivalence where applicable, and University admission policy.

Is Mathematics required for admission?

Yes, students should ideally have studied Mathematics at Intermediate level. Students who have not studied Mathematics must complete 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses during the first year, including zero semester where applicable.

Is an entry test or interview required?

For ADP and bachelor-level programs, the University generally does not need to state a test or interview unless it is officially notified for a particular admission cycle. The major stated exception is LLB, where HEC LAT is required. Applicants should follow the official admission system for final confirmation.

Can AD Computing students apply for progression into BSCS?

AD Computing graduates may be considered for fifth-semester admission subject to HEC pathway rules, minimum CGPA, departmental approval, seat availability, and completion of required deficiency or bridging courses before fifth-semester enrollment.

How long is the BSCS - Data Science program?

It is a four-year undergraduate program offered over eight regular semesters. The normal minimum duration is four years, while maximum duration and any extension are handled according to University and applicable HEC rules.

How many total credit hours are included?

The program has 130 credit hours. The credit-hour breakup includes General Education, mandatory Computer Science core, Data Science specialization electives, professional certification, interdisciplinary/allied courses, field experience, and final year project.

What is the semester fee for BSCS - Software Engineering?

The semester fee for undergraduate programs under the Faculty of Computer Science & IT is PKR 135,000 per semester, subject to the official admission system and University policy.

Are merit scholarships available?

Yes. Merit scholarship slabs for CS & IT programs may include 40% for 90% and above marks, 35% for 80% to 89%, 30% for 70% to 79%, and 10% for 60% to 69%, subject to verification, approval, and University policy.

Can students apply for kinship or alumni discount?

Yes. A 25% kinship discount and 50% alumni discount may apply where eligible, subject to verification and University policy.

Is study loan support available?

Students may apply for a 50% study loan subject to approval. Approved students may be required to complete 10 hours per week on assigned online University projects, and the loan is repayable according to the approved 12-installment schedule and signed undertaking.

Are scholarships automatic for every student?

No. Scholarships, discounts, installments, and study loans are subject to eligibility, verification, approval, continuation requirements, fee rules, and University policy. The tone of the financial support system is supportive, but approvals must follow official rules.

How does the AI-first learning model work?

Students first use AI-supported learning and LMS activities for concept clarity, revision, quizzes, learning logs, and guided practice. Classroom time is then used for mentor-led explanation, labs, data projects, problem-solving, feedback, and applied work.
