History

The University of South Asia has a rich history that dates back to 1987, when we started as the National College of Computer Sciences (NCCS). Since then, we have evolved and expanded our academic offerings, becoming a chartered university in 2005. The faculty of Allied Health Sciences was conceived in 2012 and undergraduate programs Doctor of Physiotherapy DPT (5-year), Doctor of Nutrition Sciences DNS (5-year) and Bachelor of Food and Nutrition BFN (4-year) were introduced. In light of HEC NCRC recommendations, Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics (BND) was initiated in Spring 2020. In the last decade, hundreds of students have graduated who had pursued higher education nationally and internationally. We are proud of our clinicians who have demonstrated outstanding skill in their fields. They are a testament to our dedication to excellence in education, research, and service. Today our alumni are contributing to the health and well-being of society.

Allied Health Sciences offers a variety of workshops and training programs aimed at enhancing research skills and fostering innovation. Few of the most helpful training sessions were “Curriculum Development and Assessment Design,” “Article Writing,” and “Title Hunting and Selection.” These workshops create a collaborative and supportive learning environment where participants can exchange ideas, receive constructive feedback, and refine their writing abilities.

Facilities and Resources

Classrooms

Our classrooms at the University of South Asia are designed to provide an optimal learning environment. Each classroom is equipped with modern multimedia systems, including projectors and audio-visual aids, to facilitate interactive and engaging teaching methods. The air-conditioned rooms ensure a comfortable setting for students to focus on their studies. Our small class sizes foster personalized attention and active participation, enhancing the overall educational experience.

Anatomy lab

The Anatomy Lab provides students with hands-on learning experiences essential for understanding the human body’s structure. Equipped with models of human skeletons, muscles, and various body systems, the lab allows students to explore and study human anatomy in detail. This facility is crucial for developing a comprehensive understanding of the musculoskeletal, nervous, and cardiovascular systems, which are fundamental to Physiotherapy practice.

Kinesiology Lab

Our Kinesiology Lab helps students understand human movement and biomechanics with state-of-the-art equipment like goniometers, inclinometers, EMG tools, isokinetic dynamometers, balance and proprioception tools, resistance training equipment, and manual muscle testing (MMT) tools. These resources enable practical application of theoretical concepts and support research and clinical studies in movement analysis, muscle function, and rehabilitation.

Physiology Lab

The Physiology Lab is equipped with advanced instruments for studying the physiological functions of the human body. Students can perform experiments related to cardiovascular, respiratory, and neuromuscular physiology using equipment such as spirometers, metabolic analyzers, microscopes, blood pressure monitors, and blood testing kits. This hands-on experience is vital for understanding how the body responds to physical activity and rehabilitation interventions, preparing students for clinical practice in physiotherapy.

Food and Nutrition Lab

Allied Health Sciences also have state of the art well-equipped Food and Nutrition lab for Bachelor of Nutrition and Dietetics students which provide a practical learning environment to the students, where they can apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios. By engaging in various experiments and exercises, students gain hands-on experience in essential topics such as food composition, nutrient analysis, and dietary planning. Through activities focused on meal planning and management, students develop skills in designing balanced diets that meet diverse Nutrition al needs. Overall, the food lab serves as a crucial component of their education, fostering the development of practical skills and preparing students for future careers in the field of food and Nutrition.
