This program is built for the AI era, where computing students must understand programming, databases, networking, operating systems, software development, cloud awareness, cybersecurity basics, and AI-supported digital work. As AI reshapes every industry, students who understand computing foundations can support websites, digital systems, business applications, data handling, online services, and technology-enabled operations. From the first semester, students begin developing practical skills in communication, ICT, AI-supported creativity, entrepreneurship, programming fundamentals, and approved computing electives. This means students do not wait until graduation to become useful. During the program, they can begin building a safe digital portfolio, prepare simple websites, support small-business technology tasks, create basic scripts, manage data, and explore supervised online earning projects. The program also prepares students for progression toward BS Computer Science by building foundations in programming, object-oriented thinking, data structures, databases, computer networks, software engineering, and operating systems. This is not just an Associate Degree. It is a University-supported pathway to become a future-ready computing learner, digital problem-solver, junior technology support professional, and potential BSCS pathway student who can continue learning in the AI era.

Scholarship & Study Loan

Work-Based Scholarship (WBS): work 10 hours/week online for 40% off (payable Rs 120,000/sem) or 5 hours/week for 20% off. Earned by working — not by marks.

Study Loan: an additional 40% study loan brings the payable amount to ~Rs 72,000/semester. Repaid after the student starts earning, in 6 instalments under a signed undertaking.

Duration, Credit Hours, and Program Structure

Applicants must have completed Higher Secondary School Certificate, A-Levels, or an IBCC-recognized equivalent qualification involving at least 12 years of schooling with at least 45% marks. Students should have studied Mathematics. Students who have not studied Mathematics at intermediate level must pass 6 credit hours of Mathematics deficiency courses during the first year, including zero semester where applicable.

Duration, Credit Hours, and Program Structure

The Associate Degree in Computing is a 2-year undergraduate program spread over 4 regular semesters with 72 credit hours. Its structure includes 34 credit hours of General Education, 26 credit hours of Computing Core courses, and 12 credit hours of approved Computing Electives.

What happens after completing AD Computing?

Students may apply for BSCS progression where eligible. HEC guidance requires AD Computing students entering the BSCS fifth-semester pathway to complete 15-18 credit hours of deficiency or bridging courses before fifth-semester enrollment, with minimum CGPA requirements and University approval.

What is the semester fee for AD Computing?

The current semester fee for programs under the Faculty of Computer Science & IT is PKR 135,000 per semester.
