They can be extremely stressful, time consuming to prepare for, and are full of opportunities. And then afterwards, there’s always the uncertainty of when you will hear back and if you actually got the job or not. It’s a process we all must go through several, if not dozens of times throughout our lives, in the relentless pursuit of finding meaningful work. “Then when you find that dream job, it’s important to be so prepared for the interview, that there’s no doubt about you being best fit for the position”

From brushing up on your people skills, to nailing your first impression with confident body language, a lot more is required.

We have listed down some of the mistakes Job seekers usually make at the interview avoiding which can help you secure your dream job

Failing To Keep An Eye Contact

Candidates should always make sure to keep appropriate amount of eye contact. If you don’t the interviewer can assume plenty of negative things e.g he may assume that you don’t have an appropriate answer of the question being asked, or you are insecure or deceptive.

Failing To Smile

Smiling demonstrate openness, confidence, energy and warmth.

It also sets off the mirror neurons in your listener, instructing them to smile back. Without the smile, an individual is often seen as gloomy or unresponsive.

Playing With Something on the Table

This may give the interviewer the impression that you’re bored or uninterested in the conversation. Instead, keep your hands on the desk or table, and don’t move restlessly. Instead, show your palms during an interview — since the gesture indicates sincerity — or join together the fingertips of your hands together to form a church steeple which reflects confidence and determination.

Having Bad Posture

You should always be aware of your posture. People don’t realize that the job interview actually begin in the waiting lounge. So never slouch in the chair in the reception. In order to be perceived as confident, you must sit or stand tall, with your neck high and chest slightly protruding. This position changes the chemicals in our brain eventually making us feel more stronger and confident reflecting strength, vitality and credibility!

Fidgeting Too Much In Your Seats

Playing with your hair, touching your face or any other kind of such gestures can be a major distraction for the interviewer. It also demonstrates lack of power and focus. Also when we touch our hairs or face it is because we need self-soothing. Is this the message you want to send to your interviewer?

Crossing Over Your Arms against Your Chest

This gesture usually conveys the interviewer that either you are closed off or not comfortable. You should always keep your hands in view while you are talking. When a listener can’t see your hands they wonder what you are hiding. In order to look honest and credible always show your hands and keep your arms uncrossed.

Using Too Many Hand Gestures

It’s always ok to use your hands to illustrate a few important points as staying too still  can give the impression of coldness. But relying too much on hand gestures can be distracting as well.
