Our program offers a cutting-edge blend and balance of basic and advanced courses in linguistics, literature and English language. In conjunction, an assortment of subjects from the domain of social sciences are an integral part of this program to instill in the students an interdisciplinary slant. The program courses are particularly designed to equip students with the foundation to orientate and explore their interest, in English literature and linguistics as two distinctive subjects, through specialized courses and dissertation writing.
Advanced and innovative pedagogic methods and strategies are employed to hone the students’ critic-creative capacities, written and verbal skills, analytical and rhetorical capabilities, and contextual thinking. The department focuses on arranging frequent seminars and talks pertaining to the central concerns of the discipline to foster community-based learning in the students. Thus, the range of knowledge and the communication skills that our students will procure during the program will prepare them for advanced postgraduate study and research in the discipline, as well as for a wide variety of professions, including careers in education, research, writing, publishing, media, the arts, the Civil Service and management.
